10 Great Ways to Lose Weight and Keep it Off

To lose weight and keep it off, you can start by eating a little less and then continuing this but for long term success follow these tips as well.

1.

  
Decide what you are presently eating that is preventing you from losing weight and reduce them in your diet.  Those energy-laden foods that really need to disappear are high in fats and sugars. 

2. Choose substitute foods that will satisfy you, allow your body’s metabolism to increase and burn your extra stored fat and stop you from craving the wrong foods.

3. Never starve yourself.  Eat a balanced meal containing carbohydrates, protein and fat around every 4 hours.  Eating often and regularly stops you from feeling hungray and increases your body’s metabolism (fat burning capacity).

4. Eating is an emotional experience so develop an awareness of what makes you eat.  Re-plan those parts of your life where you are likely to eat and drink the wrong things.  Approach family gatherings and even restaurants with ways that you participate so you can still lose weight and keep it off.  If this is not possible, avoid these for a while.

5. Take up a moderate form of exercise that you enjoy.  Walk, run, swim or cycle daily and make sure you get up a sweat.

6. Form a group of supporters who will encourage during your weight loss and weight maintenance phase.  These are friends for life!

7. Set goals and make them realistic.  Reward yourself at intervals across your weight loss program (not with food).

8. Fill you life with interesting alternatives to food so that you can enjoy these in any spare time instead of heading to the pantry for some cookies.  Take up a new hobby, join a sports team or buy a best seller and read it.

9. Prepare to eat sensibly even during difficult meals like business lunches or when you eat on the run.  Plan for these occasions before hand so you’re not ‘caught out’.

10. Build in an occasional small food treat so to avoid feeling deprived.  On reaching your weight goal, modify your diet so that you will be able to maintain this. 

By now you will have changed enough behaviors for long enough to lose weight and keep it off for good.   Your new food and exercise lifestyle is largely your preferred choice.  Enjoy the thrill of having accomplished such an important milestone.  Enjoy the pleasure of feeling so well and looking so good.  Remember what it took to arrive at this ‘place’ and use all your now normal eating and exercise habits to remain healthy and happy.
