Your mind has a powerful effect on everything you do, especially as you eat. As a result, the single most important way to lose weight is to control how you think about food. If you have eaten too much of the wrong foods too often, you need to re-align your thinking and re-train your mind. This is easier than you might imagine. Follow these ‘think then eat’ tips
Eat intelligently. The difference between man and beast is that we are driven by intelligence while animals are driven by instinct. Don’t just eat something because you feel like eating it. Ask yourself whether your body really needs it.
Watch your food and think about the implications of eating it. Keep a watchful eye on every thing that goes in. Sometimes the garnishes can richer than the food itself. Accompaniments too can be very rich. Remember that it is the easiest thing in the world to eat something without realizing that it was something that you should not have eaten. The best way to lose weight is to keep a close eye on this!
Develop a habit of chewing all food including liquid food and soft foods least 8 to 12 times. It is essential to add saliva to the food, as it is only in the saliva that sugar is digested. If our food goes down like lightning we hardly give the saliva any time to act on the food. If we just stuff our tummies with food digestion take place like it should. So take care, consider the benefit of eating slowly before eating.
Control ‘eating urges’ especially that sweet tooth. Think carefully. Remember that it is normal that you have cravings for sweet things even chocolate but you can satisfy your cravings with natural sugars found in fruits and even honey with less chance of gaining weight. Remember that sweet things generally mean more calories to burn off.
Make chocolates a luxury and not a routine. If chocolate alone will satisfy your sugar craving, exercise control and enjoy a small serving of this or any other caloric food that you just love. Never indulge too much in these. Think about the size of a chocolate portion that won’t interrupt your weight loss, then go ahead and enjoy.
