The benefits of eating breakfast as part of your weight loss plan are related to your metabolism. If you skip breakfast, your metabolic rate slows down and your blood sugar drops. Your body becomes hungry and you have less energy. You crave high sugar morning snacks like cookies and often feel in need of a larger serving of lunch or dinner. On the other hand when you eat breakfast, your body feels filled for much more of your day.
You should always select the best foods for breakfast to make sure that it lives up to it reputation as a weight control measure. The best breakfast menus include foods that have fewer calories and less saturated fat and cholesterol.
Select foods from two or more food groups. Foods containing protein are digested over a longer time and provide energy and keep you feeling full longer. Bran cereal and oatmeal contain dietary fiber that our body needs. So take this weight loss tip and select from different breakfast foods like those below for quick, easy to prepare and filling foods that will kick start your day and keep the hunger pangs at bay!
• whole-grain cereal with low fat milk
• Low-fat yogurt fruit smoothie
• Low-fat cheese and crackers
• Quick oatmeal (just add boiling water) and add low fat milk and raisins

• Whole-wheat toast and peanut butter
Try to have breakfast within one hour of waking. It’s always best to have breakfast within an hour of waking so that your body can charge itself with the energy it needs for the day. The idea is not to wait for your self to get really hungry.
